Basic Info[]

Dossier[]

This dossier section is intended to be an exact copy of the text in the official dossier. There may be some discrepancies between this text and the in-game Mamut.

  • Known Information: This behemoth towers over most creatures on the island, and does not seem to fear anything but the Tyrannosaurus. Mammoths generally thrive in colder areas and have a herd mentality. I'm honestly not certain how the herds of Mammoths find enough plant life to graze on some of the islands mountains. They must spend much of their time traveling between the mountains' cold summit and more lush base. Or maybe the Mammoth herd are the main reason the summits are so barren.

Behavior[]

Mammoths are herd animals, meaning that if one gets attacked, any other nearby Mammoths come charging in and start attacking what attacked them. If you attacked one by accident and you don't want to fight just run a few meters, they will stop chasing you after just a few seconds.

Appearance[]

This section displays the Mamut's natural colors and regions. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Mamut. The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Mamut will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a color to display its name and ID.

This information can be used to alter the Mamut's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6 would color the Mamut's "main body" magenta.

Kite it like anything else, they're relatively slow. Use caution when taming a Mammoth as the location in which they spawn (the snow biome) is usually littered with animals that want to kill you and the low temperatures will slowly drain your life, if unable to protect yourself against the weather, you might want to try and kite them out of the snow biome into the warmer jungle.

Utility[]

Roles[]

  • Gatherer: Excellent for gathering materials like Wood. (Damage, Weight, and Stamina)
  • Tank: Relatively high base health while suffering none of the size or speed issues that frequent the other large dinosaurs. (Health and Damage)
  • Transport: Surprisingly speedy for its size and carry capacity, can transport short distances quickly or larger distances with judicious sprinting. (Weight, Stamina, and Speed)
  • Damage: Tanky and with good AOE damage, the mammoth excels at dispatching numerous small foes. (Damage and Health)

Berries Berries ★★★★☆
Thatch Thatch ★★☆☆☆

Notes/Trivia[]

  • The species name "steincaput" seems to be a compound term composed of the German word stein meaning “stone”, and the Latin word caput meaning “head”. “Stone head” could be seen as a reference to the species' perceived obdurateness or an allusion to their durable skulls. It may also be a reference to the shape of the animal's head, which bears a resemblance to Boris Karloff's portrayal of 'the monster' in the 1931 movie Frankenstein.
  • Mammoths require a Behemoth Gateway. They can walk through a gap three foundations wide, but two is too narrow.
  • Can be picked up by a Quetzal.
