Rex Only Wiki-related posts
We cannot help you with ingame-issues like retreiving dinos, bugs or struggles with other players!

The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • Only wiki-related issues should be posted here. For support or suggestions regarding the game, try posting on the official forums at [1] or emailing the developers at support@studiowildcard.com.
  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post discussions on the talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete|reason for deletion request}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Current Issues

Wooden Tree Platform[]

Ello, it seems that the wooden tree platform wiki page is bugged, and is mostly unreadable. https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/Wooden_Tree_Platform — Preceding unsigned comment added by GURKWE (talkcontribs) at 16:43, April 7, 2019. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

It has been fixed. Report this immediately if you see it again. The Wayward Wolf (talk) 21:06, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

Siege of Ragnarok[]

Yo wiki amigos i tried to publish my article about the Siege of Ragnarok 25 but i get an error saying "Vandalism" Mr Pie 5

Huursa (talk) 20:19, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

I completely missed this message, and apparently had my mentions turned off for some reason. The false positive was from a couple patterns in the urls that it didn't like. As for the content at a glance, I'm not sure if that's appropriate mainspace content, and I've created the page at User:Huursa/Siege of Ragnarok 25 for now while it's considered.

Sarver Admin IGBluEz[]

Admin IGBluEz has kicked us and and destroyed our base because we were going to raid his ally! Server name: 50xBoosted247 .He was also using god and creative mode. This is on the ps4 console. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.234.77.109 (talkcontribs) at 06:33, 13 June 2018‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Hello there, we are sorry to hear of your troubles. Unfortunately, because it concerns a private server nobody here nor the official game support can help you in this case. --Flachdachs (talk) 07:35, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

Addition to Tek Cave flagged as vandalism in error[]

Added tribute spawn commands to the Tek Cave page, but the edit was automatically blocked and flagged as vandalism. The message linked to this page and said to contact admin here to have the edit permitted. Full text of added section below tribute requirements table can be found at the following gist: https://gitlab.com/snippets/1727574 --SporkWitch (talk) 21:48, 23 June 2018 (UTC)

Sorry about that. It caught because of a few instances of ...left;word..., and I don't see a way to write that in as an exception without compromising its purpose -- css is good at creating those situations. However, it seems like User:The Wayward Wolf read the noticeboard and added it in.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 05:48, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

Addition to Console_Commands flagged as vandalism in error[]

I added console compatibility to all known admin commands and was flagged as vandalism in error.
Nahpalm (talk) 19:53, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

Fixed, thanks for letting us know. If you saved your edit text somewhere, you should try to add it now. If not, I'll take a look at adding it myself later.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 05:38, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, all set.

Issues Creating the Potent Dust Page[]

The filter for creating a page has flagged my attempts as Vandalism, Gibberish, etc. I would appreciate it if you would correct that, so my page can be created properly. SteelKraken (talk) 13:45, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

It was because you used a lot of - to separate sections rather than proper wikitext, so it read that as symbol spam. Nothing to fix there and it looks like the page has been sorted out.

New formatting breaks carryable creatures list mostly[]

https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Carryable_Creatures

Can't see the critter name and get a good idea what can pick it up, no scroll bars, but the info is there. Looks like a result of the new formatting? And I have *no idea* how to fix it.

I liked the old formatting better.  :/ The new stuff mostly works, at least. EvilSmoo (talk) 03:03, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

Dear Administrators[]

I am an experienced wiki editor and have created a well-formatted, referenced page, but when I want to add it, it is automatically rejected with the "reason": "Gibberish". Clearly it is not gibberish at all, as I use the proper formatting, links to existing content and useful new information without typos or other errors. I even cannot add the content to my own user or talk page? Is there an admin around to help me out here? Many thanks in advance, Tisquesusa1537 (talk) 23:53, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Looks like it's from your Google doc and Youtube links. I thought I fixed that issue but I guess not. I'll work on a tweak and in the meantime, try saving without those links for now.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 00:28, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
Alternatively, I could copy-paste your edit from the log for you if you didn't save a copy or just don't want to, but I want to give you the chance to get your rightful credit for the contribution.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 00:54, 30 September 2018 (UTC)

Hesperornis[]

The Hesperornis page does not state how to tame it (passive tame, drag dead fish) and, the passive tame page also does not have the hesperornis listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.88.192.96 (talkcontribs) at 03:01, 18 October 2018‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

The Hesperornis page has already a Taming section. However the Taming page didn't mention both Hesperornis and Otter until now. --Flachdachs (talk) 06:16, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Corrupted Creature list[]

The entire list on the Corrupted Creatures page has bugged out, not sure how to fix it...
Edit for more info: The Enraged Creatures list works correctly, but the Corrupt list shows all the links. 216.54.120.82 16:11, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

This is an error that the Cargo extension produces. Can be fixed with Purge or an edit without any change. Fixed, for now. --Flachdachs (talk) 17:34, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

NewPage about my server Experience/settings[]

I had the experience of renting a couple servers for over a year from Nitrado to run for PS4 console. I doubt I would ever have the money to do that again. But I don't like the idea of my Game.ini file and server settings collecting dust in my pc.

What made my servers unique was my dino placements, regardless of map. e.g. When I found out that the Turtles don't lose oxygen underwater, I added the Aberration Turtle to spawn underwater 'as a sea turtle. Sorry for this long rant. I was wondering if I could make a page that gives away my server settings and experience? Terronscibe (talk) 02:11, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

You could put them on your user page if you want, but I don't think they would really be appropriate for a mainspace article. Maybe some of the information could be generalized or used as examples on Server configuration.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 02:17, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Well we can treat it as a suggestion but I really didn't want to clutter the suggestion page with another section. Maybe if it's ok, I could make a test page to see how it would look?Terronscibe (talk) 02:41, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Error code on edit[]

I'm trying to move my suggestion on the main page to a more suitable place but every time i try to remove it I get an error once I save it, is it refusing to let me remove it or is it actually an error? 216.54.120.82 16:10, 4 December 2018 (UTC) (aka ScrubbaNubNub's alt)

What's the text of the error message? --Flachdachs (talk) 16:16, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

S+ Tek Replicator[]

I tried to make a page but received this instead.

Error: This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Editing of a redirect page by an anonymous user

I appreciate the filter and all, but sometimes it gets in the way... Help? 216.54.120.82 13:12, 10 December 2018 (UTC) (UserProfile:Scrubbanubnub)

The message said basically two things: anonymous user and redirect page. So, you have an account, just use it. And edit the right page. The redirect redirects you to the actual page. For mod things we have the "Mod:" namespace. --Flachdachs (talk) 13:51, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
I understand that its not your fault and that you're just doing your job, but we can't just leave a link in the Navbox that goes right back to the main mod page; and about the account... This account is for use on the school issued chromebooks because Twitch is blocked by the filter, meaning I can't sign in. All I'm trying to do is turn the unnecessary redirect in the navbox into an actual page. Template:Nav Structures Plus
Mod S- Tek Replicator S+ Tek Replicator should not loop you back to Mod:Structures Plus
216.54.120.82 15:44, 10 December 2018 (UTC) (UserProfile:Scrubbanubnub)
Deleted the redirect. Next time please don't redirect pages this way. Better a red link than a bad link. --Flachdachs (talk) 16:13, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the help, although I never changed the Navbox,I only made the redirect (with my main) and recently saw it in the navbox. I'll respect the advice regardless. 216.54.120.82 16:18, 10 December 2018 (UTC) (UserProfile:Scrubbanubnub)

Mesopithecus page regarding kibble[]

The section regarding the kibble that the Mesopithecus Mesopithecus likes is bugged and is currently only showing the links, it's a small issue, but something that could use fixing regardless

Trigger of auto language filter in talk page[]

I tried answering a question submitted in the Procedurally Generated Maps talk section, however upon hitting Save Changes I was greeting with a block message stating I triggered the automatic word filter and the edit was immediately flagged as vandalism. 216.54.120.82 12:30, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Roll Rat genus name in the infobox[]

I want to fix the genus name in Roll Rat's infobox since it's misspelled (the Dossier image is my evidence), but I have no idea how to do it since said infobox does not show any relevant field in the editing page. Marqfja87 (talk) 17:11, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Use the source editor. You should be able to correct it with that, source editor is easier to use anyway, no lag and fast page loading. 216.54.120.82 17:14, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
Already tried that, actually. Same result: there's no relevant field at all. Marqfja87 (talk) 17:16, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
Try it now, see if it gets overridden 216.54.120.82 17:20, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
It worked! Thank you. I really could have benefited from a layout guide that teaches inexperienced editors not only what lines they should add to modify particular fields, but where they should put them in the page source so that the layout doesn't get messed up. Marqfja87 (talk) 17:24, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
Going to be completely honest, I just went to the Rex page and copied that bit of table from its infobox, infact, half of my s+ infobox edits are from doing that. Just experiment with what you think could work; glad I could help. 216.54.120.82 17:27, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Triggered filter on a discussion page again[]

Pretty much exactly what the header says, this time it was on Mod_talk:Mods. What triggered the filter this time? 216.54.120.82 13:40, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

<br><br> is something that spambots love. At the time this rule was created, <br> was also not the syntax used when adding a line break from the editing toolbar (<br /> was inserted instead), so a double was almost never used by a human and was comfortably filtered. I don't know when this was changed, but I may need to do a performance review of this rule now. As for what you were trying to communicate to the guy, you're a helpful soul but I don't think it's worth the time of trying to get in contact with him in that way, and it's not really an appropriate place for that sort of discussion anyways.

"Cookingcalc" Widget edit permissions[]

Review[]

Hey I would like it very much if someone would look at Getting Started and Tips and Tricks, and give me their opinions. I've been transferring some information from the 'Tips&Tricks' page to 'Getting Started'. There's a lot of copied knowledge with very lengthy descriptions. I'm trying my best to organize and simplify the information. P.S. I'm thinking about moving Obelisks and Beacons under 'General tips section to Getting Started.Terronscibe (talk) 03:46, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Not able to transmit[]

Type in map, hit transfer and nothing happens. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.50.15.143 (talkcontribs) at 13:38, 29 January 2019‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

What? You need to be more specific, also, this is an ingame issue, we don't deal with those... 216.54.120.82 17:44, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
You're talking about transferring your character from one map to another? This isn't the Official Ark website. But as one player to another, it could be an update error. Some players had to delete then reinstall Ark to fix the transfer issue in Beacons/Loot Drops. The server you are playing is unofficial and the settings might not allow transfers.Terronscibe (talk) 17:45, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Non-user Trolls[]

Why does the website allow non-users to edit? I think it encourages trolls, people thinks they can't be tracked because they don't have any connection by means of registering their email to gamepedia.Terronscibe (talk) 17:38, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Not all anonymous users are trolls, sometimes this is all we can do, look at my contribution log, and also check out ScrubbaNubNub's aswell, while I'm at school I can't sign into my account... It's better then not allowing them to edit at all, but I would like to some limitations to these. 216.54.120.82 17:42, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
My argument is that the majority of non-users are trolls and there needs to be limitations each day it's becoming more frequent of finding troll edits. Terronscibe (talk)
But you have to remember, without these troublemakers the admins will have nothing to do as the community would moderate itself... 216.54.120.82 17:56, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
Perhaps there can be an option users can register their I.P. address which would still allow edits only for Registered I.P. Addresses
This would discourage troublemakers and lessen the troll attacks
Terronscibe (talk) 03:29, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
The current system is fine. We don't see the need to change it. The number of malicious edits is quite low. --Flachdachs (talk) 07:20, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
Disabling anon edits is a common question I hear from people who are new to wikis. On paper, one would think a system like this where anyone could edit invites a ton of vandalism. In actuality, only a very small percentage of editors are malicious, and between our filters, active users, and passerby who notice a problem, they are easily kept in check. We get plenty of legitimate contribution from anons, and removing their ability to contribute would result in a higher barrier to entry and the net result would just be less contribution overall with a minimal effect on vandalism.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 20:23, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
Yes but what's the point of all this work to counter or revert troll edits? None of us that I know gets paid. Anonymous vandalism is a nuisance. Simply make it where Non-users has to register their emails with verification. Being obliged to submit atleast that information would discourage or atleast slow the rate of vandalism.Terronscibe (talk) 21:55, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
It's not that much work, actually, and it happens relatively infrequently. Far more anonymous edits are legitimate than are vandalism, and being forced to make an account is going to discourage legitimate contribution as much as it will vandalism. And restricting people from editing is antithetical to the idea of a wiki, a resource that anyone can contribute to, and so restrictions are best minimized.

GamePedia Pro Email[]

I've received an automatic email from the Gamepedia community offering me a Free Subscription for GamepediaPro? And that after 3 month it will then renew the subscription. What is this exactly? A spam letter?Terronscibe (talk) 21:23, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

You automatically have the subscription, it is not spam. Read the email. The Wayward Wolf (talk) 22:12, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
I did read the email. I just wanted to be sure.Terronscibe (talk) 02:29, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
To be clear, it's 3 months of Gamepedia Pro, which is ad-free browsing and a little badge by your name. It is automatically applied and the email was just letting you know. The only cost associated with it is you being an active editor, and every month that you are still active it will be re-applied for 3 months from then.

Floating Content menu for Mobile[]

Is it possible to create a button for the bottom right of the screen in Mobile view? On my Samsung S7 smartphone, in the Chrome Browser. The Content menu does not display on the screen. However if I switch to Desktop view I see it.

Some articles are long and some people are not patient readers. I think having a Floating Collapsed Content button on the lower right of the screen would be handy, in the middle of the page the reader could hit the [+] open up the Content Floating menu, hit the section they want and move right to it at an instant. Another example is your profile comments. Which the majority is not including additional colons. Terronscibe (talk) 02:53, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
I remember seeing a template that brought back the replies after a certain point, though i’ve never tested it nor seen it be used somewhere Scrubbanubnub (talk) 03:02, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
The wiki standard is, when there are two or more responses to the same posting they are indented the same. Every answer gets plus 1 indentation to the posting it is referring to, and this is not necessarily the last posting with the furthest indentation. So in this case my answer is a reply to the starting posting and hence has one indentation. --Flachdachs (talk) 08:06, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

Kibble[]

The new kibble recipes are not balanced well. It uses more resources and thereby costs more to make a basic Dodo egg kibble than one from a Scorpion or Teri. It would be as bad if it only took 5 each of the berries, but 10 each for 2 different berries plus Mejo and meat is too expensive. I can’t cook all my Dodo eggs now. Please recalculate the crafting for the most Basic Kibble.

feeding trough dung beetles was flagged[]

I was flagged with a popup saying some violation. Dung beetles do not eat feces from any Feeding Trough. Trying to correct this in wiki and was shown a link telling me to explain myself here and sign it with squiggly marks.

What I mean to say is that I got flagged before I finished my entire editing. Just go ahead and revert it back. I was going to rewrite the Dung Beetle thingy and word it so people understood DB does not eat poop but is a meat eating dino. Was going to place the explain elsewheres but no longer wish to. I've lost interest in the two dung beetle edits I made tonight. Killed my steam, no offense; like ice water in the face.

That violation popup scared me to death. Might try wording it in a way that doesn't make editors feel like criminals caught in a bank vault having a smoke. Maybe not so THREATENING. Maybe something more like, "Hello, we enjoy your improvements and consideration to take time out of your busy schedule to improve our wiki. But to keep things as accurate as possible we need to do some checks and balances ourselves. If you would please follow this link we can improve this wiki together as a team." Or something that doesn't scream VIOLATOR VIOLATOR VIOLATOR YOU WILL BE PUNISHED to hard working people trying their best.

Will be editing the Feeding Trough and Tek Trough pages in the future, if I'm allowed to, with a list of every item that DOES go in them. Cause this is needed.

Though mentioning poop doesn't go in the trough as if this is offensive messup by WC devs was silly. Mindset is the thing does not EAT poop. It's tamed with poop. Not a poop eater. No reason to expect poop in the trough. Does not eat poop. Converts it. Not eats it.

Would have explained that in my future edit with the list of everything that does go in trough. But I get it. Don't delete. Just add add add to the wiki.

If you wish to contribute to my knowledge base it is being gather here atm. I on purpose left off a few items to see if people will help me. If not I may go to reddit or steam.

Citronal is a Fruit[]

The Vegetables list is misleading. However, I vote that these crops that are involved in special cases like taming recipes be called something specific like: 'Taming Resource'.

Then as for the Plants page needs to be renamed to 'Crops, Rare Flower and Mushrooms'.. Actually, I'm working on revising the 'Farming page to include both Farming practices and Gardening. See my Test Page. Perhaps, I could include a section that acts as both an disambiguation and a description about the various harvest. Because the subject of Ark plants would include each object of berry bushes, flowers, grape vine, grassy foliage and more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Terronscibe (talkcontribs) at 05:22, March 31, 2019. Technically all of them are fruits, as they all have seeds. I think the Vegetables pages should be renamed to Advanced Crops and the Plants page be renamed to Basic Plants. The Wayward Wolf (talk) 12:14, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
'Advance Crops' I like that, but I was being technical. Because you cannot grow nor reproduce Rare Flowers and Mushrooms. As for the plant page, I was going to make it similar to the Tree page. Likewise I was planning to upload pictures of the common plants and move the current info over to future Gardening section under Farming. Even for the rename for referring to taming resources like the vegetables, I don't think we need a disambiguation for Vegetables alone when we already got a collection of 'fruits' or 'harvests'.Terronscibe (talk) 13:46, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

Oh I know this probably improper to reply twice, but I want to simplify what I'm trying to indicate:

  • Is it okay to move Plants info and disambiguation to a future section in the Farming page?
  • Then can we redirect Vegetables to the disambiguation section that was originally from the (if the transfer was permitted) Plants page? Terronscibe (talk) 13:59, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

Web page issue with ads.[]

76.26.177.175 12:12, 1 November 2019 (UTC) Hello, the ads on the right side keep blocking the search box on my laptop. Refreshing the page resets it, but it happens often and is starting to get annoying. The ads also take about 1/4 of my screen on my tablet so its good for quick info but its hard to read when no matter what I do 1/4 the screen is a ad. Love the web site btw. Thank you for all the work you guys do.

Sorry for the late response. Could you provide your resolution, browser, and any extensions you have? And if it happens again, a screenshot would be great. I've never seen the ads overlap the search box before.

Flagged for potential vandalism[]

Wanting to clarify the DestroyTribeDinos command to let people know this is the only way to fix a player or tribe that has left tamed dinos to breed on a server with very high breeding speeds.

The paragraph I tried to add:

Unclaimed dinos are in their own separate tribe, so using this command while targeting an unclaimed dino will destroy all unclaimed dinos and leave the tamed and wild dinos alone. This can be useful if config settings for breeding are very fast and a tribe or player leaves a pair of dinos to breed unchecked, crippling the performance of the singleplayer game or server by causing endlessly increasing lag/stutter from thousands of unclaimed dinos walking around freely.

Edit has been flagged as potential vandalism[]

I was getting frustrated at having to trawl around looking for info on S+ items and figured that while I was looking for the info I may as well update and fill in the wiki pages as I went; I expanded the S+ Vivarium page a bit last night on my phone without trying to log in and everything went fine. Today I decided to continue on with my computer, and properly log in as a user... and upon filling in all the information I could find, as well as adding in reference links and in general doing my best to make the page as complete as possible, I clicked save and got

"Your edit has been flagged as potential vandalism by the automated language filter and has been prevented. If you believe this to be in error, please contact an admin so they can recover your edit and improve the filter. "

I'm hoping this is the correct place to put this?? I've never tried to edit anything in the wiki before and I'm rather put out that I finally decided "might as well ensure other people can also reap the benefits of my info gathering" only to have it rejected

update: I clicked the "watch this page" checkbox and then hit save again hoping that even if the save didn't take it would still notify me of further changes to the page... and the save went through...?? Your edit has been flagged ...[]

Dear admins. I attempted to add a small guide on a page, where it threw up that my comment was considered vandalism. I figured it might be because adding video content was restricted, however had seen nice helpful guides on a bunch of pages so wanted to help make the wiki better (much as I have on multiple other wikis, as I normally specialize in making game guides). The page I attempted to edit was https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/Tusoteuthis.

Apologies if (new) video content is considered forbidden, as I made sure to verify that other pages had some which made me conclude it was acceptable.

Vedui42 (talk) 06:49, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

According to our wiki manager, the video ID got misinterpreted, but you should be fine now as you're over the edit threshold. Please try to do the edit again. Alexrmski (talk) 23:39, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the reply. I wanted to make sure I wasn't in-advertently breaching any rules :) However, I am still getting the error message. "Your edit has been flagged as potential vandalism by the automated language filter and has been prevented" ... any idea what could be triggering it? Vedui42 (talk) 08:04, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
Nevermind, I guess edits are counted differently by the filters since the platform update, and site-wide contributions no longer count towards the threshold. I added the video to the article (normally your contribution would have to be signed on the history page but this isn't exactly a piece of writing) so you don't have to work the filters around. Thank you and sorry for the issues. Alexrmski (talk) 09:47, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
Understood. No problem for me, more trouble for you which is not my intent :) I did try a normal textual edit which seemed fine. Maybe I'll do some updates on some other pages if I see something, that might help give site-contributions over the threshold, though I'm not sure how many are needed. Maybe that'll work the problem out in the end :) Vedui42 (talk) 10:31, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Incorrectly named page[]

The wiki page "Exo-Mek" talking about the Exo-Suit vehicle which was recently announced is incorrectly named a fan-made name. All current reveals refer to it as the Exo-Suit. The latest Community Crunch (263) refers to the Exo-Suit as "Exo-mek". This is so far the only source I know about, but please correct me if that's wrong. It's possible you confused it with the Federation Exo Suit, and these two are not the same: the Fed Suit is a wearable armor, and the Exo-mek is a vehicle. Alexrmski (talk) 21:06, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Original poster's note: You are correct, they did change the name a few hours later, I didn't think to check for this because I had never heard someone refer to it as the Exo-mek until that point. (I did double take by checking the file name of the image and it is indeed named Exo-Suit. I didn't go onto the crunch because the page takes 10 minutes to load.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.65.102.182 (talkcontribs) at 22:53, 18 April 2021‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Template:CreatureTableRow modification request/help[]

Hello! I made the following edit to fix a presentation issue when browsing Base Creature Statistics - I hope that's okay, and that I haven't broken anything anywhere else. I'm in a wiki-rabbit hole right now, I got to that page after reading "as strong as a plesiosaur" on Voidwyrms and thought that was the least useful comparison because "who uses a plesiosaur to know what this reference is suppose to mean"but turns out Plesis are hench AF but still who knows that. However, I do not know how to make an additional change that I think would improve the page: I think that

<td align="left"> {{ItemLink|{{{name|}}}|size=30px}} {{#if:{{{variant|}}}|({{{variant|}}})}} </td>

should be

<td align="left" {{#ifeq|???tamable???|true=<!--donothing-->|false=style="background-color:rgb(255 0 0 / 15%);"}}> {{ItemLink|{{{name|}}}|size=30px}} {{#if:{{{variant|}}}|({{{variant|}}})}} </td>

but I do not know what to put in for ???tamable??? to validate the check. Thanks 📉 Emptylord (talk) 01:09, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Dark hex background pattern recently appeared on dino-specific pages which makes them hard to read.[]

Sometime in the past two days something changed that made the normal light hex background pattern very dark on dino-specific pages which makes reading these pages quite difficult. Other pages (items, maps, general info, etc.) still appear as usual without the dark hex pattern. I'm using Firefox (no updates to Firefox in this period) on Windows 10 (probably some updates but seems an unlikely culprit). I've included two sample screenshots to illustrate the problem I'm encountering.

Ark dark hex background

dark hex background on dino-specific pages

Ark light hex background

normal light hex pattern on all non-dino pages

KADC "Be unreasonable." (talk) 22:37, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

I haven't seen that behavior since the hex background was even added. It seems that something's messing with the Z/depth order of the hex overlay, and it isn't being done by standard Firefox.
Based off the screenshot not using any of the custom fonts and displaying a placeholder for the audio player, is there any chance you can say what extensions you use? If you have an extension that lets you
  • inject CSS, see if main.page__main::before {z-index:-5} does the trick;
  • block elements (like UBlock/AdBlock), target this selector main.page__main::before to delete the hex background.
Alexrmski (talk) 00:22, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestions, Alexrmski. They put me on the right track to solving the problem.
  • The current version of Firefox Quantum on Windows 10 seems to ignore user CSS even after enabling it in about:config and creating the chrome/userChrome.css so that didn't work when I tried it.
  • I disabled all the extensions I use (NoScript, uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, and Decentraleyes) with no luck.
  • In the end it turned out to be a script on nocookie.net (would never have guessed that was the culprit) that NoScript was blocking. Once I allowed that script, the hex pattern on Creatures pages went back to normal. (Weird that disabling NoScript didn't work ...maybe because I only reloaded the page instead of restarting Firefox?)
In any case, I can read dino info clearly again so (for me) the issue is resolved. Thanks again, Alexrmski, for your assistance.
Side note: Since the problem only appeared (for me) recently, and only on "Creatures" pages, is there any chance there was an inadvertent modification to the style code for that specific subcategory?
KADC "Be unreasonable." (talk) 06:14, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Santiago isn't the author of the Titan Dossiers![]

Hello there stranger. I need to ask a favor from you. You see, I noticed that the Titan Dossiers say they were written by Santiago. But I know that isn't true, he only does tek manuals for those robots. Plus, he just doesn't talk like that at all. But The One Who Waits does. Can you change for me? I think is because their is a piece of code that is connected to the holograms. UserProfile:Brydav_Massbear 5:31, 23 June 2021‎ (UTC)

Looks like a regression from recent dossiers upgrade. Will be fixed in a sec. Alexrmski (talk) 00:28, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Thanks stranger. However those titan dossiers do have a author. It's The One Who Waits. You know, Helena Walker as Homo Deus? Could you change it to them? The reason is because this author refers to the King Titan as "The King of Shadows", and the only person who calls him that is The One Who Waits. Adding the Hover Skiff to Template:CarryableTable[]

Would it be possible to add the Hover Skiff to Template:CarryableTable (or wherever it needs to be added) in order to have it appear on articles as a valid thing that can pick-up certain creatures? *I* know it can carry virtually everything, but as a server admin - there's a lot of players who can't work things out backwards.

I've never used Cargo so I am too anxious to make the change myself. Even looking at the existing code, I'm not confident that I can just extrapolate without breaking something. 📉 Emptylord (talk) 14:25, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

The Cargo table should now register whether things can be carried by the Hover Skiff as long as the carryableby field lists the "TEK Hover Skiff (Genesis: Part 1)". The data table should be populated first before the carriability table is expanded (can't do it myself at this moment in time). Alexrmski (talk) 08:44, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Updating "Diet" to reflect gameplay rather than dossier[]

It is my understanding (in part from when I was an admin a couple years back) that a lot of our creature information is autogenerated from the game files. How feasible would it be to update "Diet" on the infobox to reflect what is true in game, in spite of what is claimed in the dossier? Would the bot overright userinput every time there's a patch? I genuinely cannot remember. The dossiers have become increasingly trivial over the years, and they are in large part treated as "ignorable lore" even on the articles - but some information granted in the dossiers is still the information reflected in the infobox, even when it's inaccurate. For example, Megachelon Megachelon claims it's an omnivore - but it's a herbivore in-game.

As with above, I'm mainly asking as a server owner who has to deal with people asking questions; as an editor who hates seeing people say "yeah, I don't trust the wiki". 📉 Emptylord (talk) 15:22, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Since late June gameplay-based information is preferred over the dossiers in infoboxes, with an additional extension of the dossier template to allow for its info to be retained. Check Otter for example.
Having a bot auto-fill the diet is planned (if not already specified), but most likely not for ARK 1 (given that data extraction focus has been shifting towards updating its core). Alexrmski (talk) 08:30, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

automated language filter[]

On the page https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/-Space-_(Genesis:_Part_2) I tried to improve visibility by change the background color of the "Supply Crate color" table using a little of html-CSS code to make it but it flagged as "potential vandalism" and "prevent it" by not making the update, I dont know if is not allowed but I think is really really useful because it makes so much easy to read which kind of drop are by having the literal color right there

Finixian (talk) 00:15, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

The filter probably got triggered by the isolated word "black". I've reinstated the edit, thanks. Alexrmski (talk) 17:04, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

Another False Vandalism Flag[]

Once I finally tried to save, it flagged me for vandalism under the reason "Gibberish", despite it definitely being a comprehensible page. I'm still learning the ways of the wiki but after looking it over it just seems to be another error in the filter. Any way I could get help with this?

on the tributing page for mobile, there are the words"30px 10, 30px 5, and 30px 2" i think these refer to the amount of amber, soothing balm, grenades, and potent dust that you get from them but it is difficult to tell which is which,

please make the amounts more clear

here is my idea: instead of 30px 10, put ancient amber(times symbol) 10(adjust for each artifact) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gamingwolf1170 (talkcontribs) at 13:34, 20 May 2022‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Hi, thanks for reporting that. It was originally supposed to be like you proposed, but we had a bot mishap a few months ago that went unnoticed, resulting in the weird px numbers you see. I've now restored the numbers to their proper places.

Vandalism on Desmodus page[]

Hi, I've only started editing this wiki so I hope I'm doing this right. So I've been looking through the history of the Desmodus page and I've found a significant amount of vandalism by a user Special:Contributions/220.253.69.96 who has basically been adding "tony" "schlong" "dadless" and various other completely irrelevant bits of junk to this article, while removing actual information. I can't find any evidence that they were IP blocked or anything like that, but I think they probably should be. Anyways, thanks for your time! Spottedpawbs (talk) 18:07, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

This is not the official wiki anymore (Wildcard has their own now, linked from official game website survivetheark.com), and there's no active administration team here. Alexrmski (talk) 22:11, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

Main page section outdated[]

ARK Survival Evolved Wiki/Section 2 claims that Fjordur is an "upcoming free DLC Expansion Map", but it's been released by now, that should probably be fixed. SabSparrow (talk) 23:54, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

There's no admin team here anymore as everyone moved onto the new wiki launched in cooperation with Studio Wildcard, so it's prolly not getting fixed. Alexrmski (talk) 12:46, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
This has been fixed. Wilson0x4d (talk)
Which means there's a total of all Fjordur-related articles still out of date. That's definitely "fixed". Alexrmski (talk) 16:38, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

Phoenix[]

First time doing this, but something happened to the Phoenix page. About half of it has been vandalised. I have photo evidence of the vandalism and who was last on it.
