The Corrupted Gardens is a massive petri dish biome of ARK 1's most dangerous creatures with the addition of one of the Genesis 2 exclusive creatures that is native to the biome: the Shadowmane. From Araneos and mantis to the R-Giganotosauruses, nearly everything has an intent to kill players within a biome that has a purple atmosphere.

Lore[]

  • When Nida returned from the Corrupted Gardens biome, she went through multiple levels of decontamination when she was about to enter the Eden ring. In the Corrupted Gardens Ring, there was no sign of decontamination procedures as it was taken over by Rockwell. In-game when a player enters the Eden Ring, there are particles floating around in the air before going in while the Corrupted Gardens ring does not have that feature.
  • According to Gabriel, the biome is so terrifying in appearance that he notes something is undoing the natural order of things and how nature is supposed to work. Even Nida noted she wouldn't be able to sleep with she saw when she first entered the ring.
  • According to Nida, most of the Colony Ship crew went into the Corrupted Gardens ring in an effort to retake the forward ring, but given the bodies that were left at the ring's entrance as portrayed by Gabriel, all of them were slaughtered in gruesome detail.
    • Helena portrayed most of the Island-Extinction exclusive creatures that are native in the Corrupted Gardens biome such as velonasaurs, managarmrs, giganotosaurus, rock elementals, reapers, and mantis in how they can easily kill a human.
      • Mantis is one of the most common creatures in the area, and Helena noted of their intelligence similar to a human's and being a creature equivalent to a foot soldier.
      • According to Helena's dossier, the Giganotosaurus is extremely dangerous to encounter in any way and it can easily kill some of the strongest creatures and that includes the Tek Stryders that were used to prevent Element contamination.
      • Many previous survivors like Mei Yin, the graduate students, and Helena describe the Reapers deadliness to humans through their special ability to impregnate their victim with a baby Reaper. They are common in the Rockwell's innards biome, where they are used to defend Rockwell.
      • The Rock Elementals according to Helena will defend their territory and they can hibernate while looking like a normal rock.
      • Helena noted that Velonasaurs are effective at defending entrenched areas and the Corrupted Gardens biome has plenty of choke points and areas that can be entrenched in the terrain.
    • When Nida returned with a sample from the Corrupted Gardens biome, Nida noted that almost everything within the biome was the result of Tek gene manipulation technology combined with Element. In other words, every organism found within the biome has their genetic material tainted by miniscule doses of Element. This is evident in the shadowmane creatures, and the R-variant creatures within the biome with the latter not having a high dose of Element like their corrupted variants.
