Basic Info[]

Behavior[]

Will attack players and tames on sight

Appearance[]

An enormous Crystal Wyvern Crystal Wyvern with crystals all along her head, back and shoulders. Upon her head is what appears to be the stripped-clean skull of another Wyvern worn over her face like a helmet.

The membranes of her wings have a unique pattern on them compared to other Wyverns. Also unlike all other Wyverns, her pupils are fully dilated, making her eyes look completely black, resembling Blood Crystal Wyvern.

Her true appearance is light Orange in coloration with normal eyes as opposed to the dilated pupils of the other difficulty based forms.

Her color variations are a Dark Brown with Green Crystals with green fins and wing tips on Gamma Difficulty, Deep Blue Crystals with blue fins and wing tips and a light black body coloration on Beta Difficulty and Red Crystals with red fins with red wing tips and a black body on Alpha Difficulty, all difficulty variations also have dilated eyes.

Color Scheme and Regions[]

X mark

The Crystal Wyvern Queen always spawns with the same color scheme and has no color regions.

This means it is currently impossible to make alterations to the Crystal Wyvern Queen's colors.

Wild Stats Level-up

Type in values of a wild creature to see on which stats it's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you have already tamed your creature you can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool.[1]

Crystal Wyvern Queen

The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps

Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed.

Combat[]

This section describes how to fight against the Crystal Wyvern Queen.

General[]

The Crystal Wyvern Queen is extremely dangerous due to her massive size and various breath attacks

Strategy[]

At the beginning of the fight, the Crystal Wyvern Queen sits stationary in her nest, using various breath attacks from the other Wyvern types to ward off attackers. During this, she will continue to lay multicolored eggs in her nest, which will hatch into rapidly-growing Crystal Wyvern Crystal Wyvern Heir, acting as minions. Once she is approached, she will also attack by biting or sometimes blowing away with her wing flap.

Once she has lost a certain amount of her health, she will begin flying around the arena, occasionally using various breath attacks. During this phase, she gains a new breath attack which will leech health from anything it hits, restoring her HP. Once she has reached a certain threshold of HP, she will land in another nest and begin the previous phase again.

Once she has reached a certain threshold in her HP again, she will begin to fly again. In this phase, she has all her previous attacks, plus she will now lay eggs while flying, spawning minions at the same time now. From here, she will repeat the cycles until she is defeated.

Recommended Tames[]

  • Tropeognathus Tropeognathus can be very useful due to their flak cannons on their saddles, their maneuverability and their decent stats.
  • Argentavis Argentavis are a good substitute to Crystal Wyvern Crystal Wyvern, because they can have saddles and can do up to the same bite damage as Crystal Wyvern Crystal Wyvern, they can also feed on the corpses of the Crystal Wyvern Crystal Wyvern Heir to buff itself.
  • Therizinosaur Therizinosaurs are one of the best choices as they have high damage and can be healed with Sweet Vegetable Cake Sweet Vegetable Cake. This allows them to stay at nearly full health while killing both the Queen and her spawned Crystal Wyvern Crystal Wyvern Heir.
  • Deinonychus Deinonychus are good choice to damaging Crystal Wyvern Queen, as its bleed mechanic does work on Bosses. Just remember, in order to get them, you have to travel to Valguero because they don't spawn in Crystal Isles.
  • Woolly Rhino Woolly Rhinos are good to bring, due to having great amount of damage.
  • Crystal Wyvern Crystal Wyvern Rushing can be used to rush the Crystal Wyvern Queen.
  • A Yutyrannus Yutyrannus or 2 (preferably mate boosted) should always be brought into any arena as it's one of the most valuable creature for Boss fights due to its courage roar ability and good stats, making them a jack-of-all-trades mount.
  • If players are willing to put the effort of micromanaging their food, the Daeodon Daeodon can also be valuable due to their healing ability.

Dangers[]

The Crystal Wyvern Queen possess multiple types of breath attacks in the form of a projectile ball, unless something gets too close to her, which in this case, she will either push off with wings flap, bite, or use the regular variant of multiple type of breath attack. Because of her ability to fire multiple variants of breath, she is immune to all of them.

She often will lay eggs at the nest she currently resides in. These eggs wobbles and eventually hatches into baby Crystal Wyvern (often as Heir) which grows very fast to Juvenile and Adolescent and finally Adult, and are highly aggressive even when they are still babies (with them spewing crystal breaths), with no HP penalty from being babies. She will often roars, calling some of her Heirs above to deal with the survivors.

Her nest swapping increases gradually with lower health, and will remain airborne longer, which makes flying creature a priority for such cases.

Weakness[]

The Crystal Wyvern Queen is confined within one of three nest, only changing positions between by flying over.

Eggs laid by her are considered as entities rather than items, and can be killed before it hatches.

Baby Crystal Wyvern cannot fly, but will sprint after the survivors. However, due to their fast growth, they will fly.

There is a corner you can put your tames into while she is flying she will try to dive bomb them allowing you to deal damage when she is in the flight phase.

Notes[]

  • It is the first true boss battle made for a free Expansion Map.
    • The other bosses were old bosses made for previous maps such as the Megapithecus Megapithecus and the unique boss battles such as the Iceworm Queen Iceworm Queen for example were Mini-Bosses.
  • If you pull up the Admin Command bar and type: Summon BossTeleporter_CIBoss_C and input the code then you will be able to teleport into the Crystal Wyvern Queen's arena and fight the Crystal Wyvern Queens 4th variation.
  • The Crystal Wyvern Queen is the second type of Wyvern that can breathe multiple breath attacks, the first being the Dodo Wyvern Dodo Wyvern.
  • The Crystal Wyvern Queen is the only boss to not have unique battle music.
    • It shares a battle theme with the Dragon Dragon instead of having its own.
  • It is impossible to preserve her skull helmet, as it does not appear on either her Dermis (Extinction) Dermis nor the Crystal Wyvern Queen Trophy (Crystal Isles) Crystal Wyvern Queen Trophy.
    • This is likely a bug similarly to how the Forest Titan Forest Titan's taxidermy has no arms.
  • The way she lays eggs and they hatch and grow overtime is reminiscent of the Anacthyon boss in the Atlas Expansion Map Blackwood.
  • She is the third boss that is confirmed to be female, the first being the Broodmother Broodmother and the second being Moeder, Master of the Ocean Moeder, Master of the Ocean.
  • The Crystal Wyvern Queen may appear bug and disappear when it stand above your dino, the timer will be turn into "Return Time" after it disappear.
  • The Crystal Wyvern Queen is the 3rd boss to specifically be based on a real mythological creature, the 1st being the Dragon Dragon and the 2nd being the Manticore Manticore.
    • Interestingly all 3 can fly as well.
