The Jar of Pitch is an ammunition in Genesis: Part 2. It can be shot from a Catapult Turret, and lights the area of impact on fire. A direct hit on a creature does 250 damage and lights the target on fire. The area of impact is five foundations wide and lasts for 30 seconds. The flames can damage Thatch (105/0.5s), Wood (35/0.5s), Stone (1/1s), Metal (1/4.5s) and Tek (1/4.3s) tier buildings. It can damage Tek turrets (1/4.3s) but not Auto and Heavy Auto Turrets. While a target is in the area of flames it will get the Enflamed debuff for 6 seconds which will not go down until either the target leaves the affected area or the flames go out. If a building is impacted directly it will take either a lot of damage if its thatch (Instant), wood (Instant), or stone (700) or none if its metal or Tek.
If a target is close to you the catapult turret and you could be set on fire and take damage.
If a base's owners are offline and you have enough time and Pitch Jars, you could raid it without risking anything. However there are much faster methods of doing this.
Stacking multiple flames can making burning buildings faster, though on metal and Tek tier the difference is hardly noticeable.
If a tamed dino is being ridden and gets hit or walks a affected area, it will set the rider on fire as well, unless in a Mek.
The Jar of Pitch can destroy a regular generator in 1 shot if landed near or on it, but flame arrows are much more useful for doing this.
Bugs[]
If riding a Magmasaur and getting direct impacted by the Jar of Pitch, the rider and the Magmasuar will get the Enflamed debuff, but the rider won't take damage while riding the Magmasaur. The Magmasuar will keep the enflamed debuff until it either dies or the rider gets off of the Magmasaur and stays away from it until the enflamed debuff wears out.
Despite the description saying that it can be fired from ballista turrets, Jars of Pitch can only be fired from catapult turrets
