Kesler Inlet
Kesler Inlet (Lost Island)
Location

The Kesler Inlet is a region in the Lost Island DLC.

Overview[]

Kesler Inlet is a coastal region located in the northwest of Lost Island. As its name implies is dominated by a long inlet bordered by tall cliffs. However, this body of water is more similar to a fjord, given the proximity of the surrounding cliffs and its notable deep.

As stated, the region is almost totally occupied by the inlet, with the remaining area composed by the beaches between the water and the cliffs. This geographical feature gives the area an impressive aspect, with the cliffs creating a canyon that extends northeast and opens to Narrow Winds Valley. As the inlet/fjord divides the region, two areas can be distinguished: the northern/western and the eastern.

The north/west side is composed by mainly open beaches, only interrupted by stone nodes and a small section of water. The beach is almost always narrow, but width varies. In the northernmost section the cliffs give way to a gentle slope, which belongs to Tumash Jungle. This spot is a good place for an initial base due the availability of space and its herbivore population; however low level players should take precautions and prepare as fast as possible, as Raptor, Carnotaurus and Rex are not an uncommon sight and pose and important threat. On the other side of the inlet the beach is even narrower and rockier, with two dividing monumental stone gates. Beyond the second gate, located in the south, the beach ends and the only route is a slope that leads to Kesler Plains. Both sides meet in the easternmost edge of the region, where the water is much shallower and a narrow pass opens to Narrow Winds Valley, allowing the access to the mountains. The inlet itself is mostly deep, populated by different types of fish, along Megalodon, Piranha and Manta. That fauna makes the inlet dangerous to swim (even to a Rex!), even worse if keeping in mind that at least a Leedsichthys is always present, thus endangering boat travelling.

The area is considered "easy" but although the intense herbivore presense large carnivores are also common. Sometimes Rex and Carnotaurus spawn in various points, while other times they descend the slopes or directly fall from the cliffs of surrounding areas, so they can come out of nowhere and surprise unprepared survivors. They pose an even major threat when occupying the narrow beaches, as there are no short ways to surround them and the waters are usually dangerous. Still, survival is considerably easier than in other areas and there are lots of resources both in and close to the area.

Notes[]

  • Despite being marked "easy", this is one of the hardest spawn points.
  • Bat calls can be heard in the evening (approx. 18.00-21.00) where Kesler (Hammerfell) meets Tumash (High Rock)
