The Mantis Egg is one of the eggs in ARK: Survival Evolved. It is available in the Scorched Earth, Extinction, and Ragnarok DLCs.

Overview

Mantis Eggs are dropped after two Mantis Mantis have mated. They can be eaten.

After two Mantis Mantis mate, the resulting egg can be hatched into a baby Mantis Mantis.

Incubation

Disambig Main article: Incubation

The Mantis Egg takes 2h 46m 39.2s to hatch. It must be in the temperature range of 35 to 38 °C / 95 to 100 °F to successfully hatch, otherwise it will start to lose Health Health. The female Mantis Mantis needs between 18h and 2d before having the capacity to lay eggs again. The incubation time can be reduced by up to 20% if the egg is placed in an Egg Incubator (Genesis Part 2) Egg Incubator at the ideal temperature.

Notes

  • Prior to 316.18, Mantis can't be bred. It is currently unknown if Mantis will still lay their original eggs.
  • As of 316.18, Mantis can now be bred, along with some other insects. The eggs are similar to bloodstalker eggs in that they cannot be picked up after being fertilized/dropped. As such, it is recommended to either have them mate in the location the eggs will be incubated/hatched at, or have a source of portable incubation such as dimetrodon, standing torch, etc.
  • Prior to TLC 3, this egg appeared as hard-shelled egg like any other dino eggs and can be picked up. Dinos associated with said eggs also lays them.
    • Any eggs picked up prior to the above will have changed appearance as it is no longer obtainable as an item.
