1 Adults cannot be tamed, but babies can be 'birthed' from players being impregnated from queen and imprinted on.
3 The only way of 'breeding' would be through impregnation from the Queen, but breeding technically isn't possible due to the gender mechanics of the Reaper.

Aberration

The Reaper is one of the Creatures in ARK: Survival Evolved Aberration.

The fourth Aberration Mystery Dossier is more confusing than the previous ones. The very fractured creature shares many traits with the Nameless Queen. Due to its fractured condition and its brown coloring it could also be just a similar / related creature. Also the blood-splattering hints to a more unusual role like the DodoRex.

Basic Info

Dossier

This section is intended to be an exact copy of what the survivor Helena Walker, the author of the dossiers, has written. There may be some discrepancies between this text and the in-game creature.

Wild

At home in the cavern's deepest chambers, Reapers are towering, terrifying apex predators. Beyond overwhelming their prey with fangs and claws, Reapers can burrow underground to set an ambush and fire acidic projectiles from their tails. Yet it is their macabre method of reproduction that is their most frightening feature. Bizarrely, a female Reaper's tail doubles as a reproductive organ, but only when piercing human survivors. Once impregnated, the survivor carries the young reaper until it bursts from their chest in a grotesque, disturbing spectacle.

Domesticated

If impregnated by a female Reaper, I strongly urge that the survivor kill the embryo via exposure to radiation. However, there are rumors that Reapers might imprint themselves on a survivor who possesses a Reaper pheromone gland. This has led some mad survivors with dreams of riding on the back of a Reaper to try seeing the gestation period through to the end, but that is extremely dangerous, not to mention disgusting.

Behavior

The Reaper is highly aggressive, but only emerges when the Alpha Nameless Nameless calls for them often. Be prepared for their arrival if you prolong the battle against the Nameless for too long. (The Reaper will only spawn after you have accumulated 10 or more nameless).

The Reaper can be found beyond The Spine.

Appearance

This section displays the Reaper's natural colors and regions. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Reaper. The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Reaper will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a color to display its name and ID.

This information can be used to alter the Reaper's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6 would color the Reaper's "middle region" magenta.

Combat

This section describes how to fight against the Reaper.

General

Alpha Kings are known to bury towards safety when they reached a certain health, and emerges far away from the player.

Strategy

Weaponry

Dangers

The Reaper's acid attack.

Weakness

Reapers, much like the Nameless, are weakened by Charge light. Be sure to bring a lantern pet or charge weaponry. if you plan to venture into the darkness.

Taming

Wild Reapers cannot be tamed. In order to obtain a tamed Reaper, one must be 'impregnated' by the Reaper Queen Reaper Queen from a tail attack.

While the player is impregnated, the following things are to be taken into consideration:

  • Radiation will kill the baby inside the player.
  • (Possibly unintended)Sitting on the Tek Bed will 'abort' the baby.
  • Dying will not kill the baby inside the player, but instantly reset the timer back to 12 hours.

The baby takes 12 in-game hours for gestation to be completed. During this time, the player cannot earn XP; the baby will absorb any XP obtained. Once the period ends, the baby forcefully 'ejects' from the player. If the player does not have the effect from Reaper Pheromone Gland Reaper Pheromone Gland, it will instantly kill them upon 'birth'.

Unlike other babies, Reaper babies can only be imprinted with Reaper Pheromone Gland Reaper Pheromone Gland, which is found from dead Reapers. Also, they will ignore any whistle command, and will not respond to any behavior changes, and it is well advised to keep them boxed for they move fast and could get away easily until they reached Juvenile, in which they appear more of a Reaper. They however still requires food like Raw Meat Raw Meat, so it is advised to leave stacks of meat after imprinting them.

Also, unlike other babies, the gender of the Reaper babies are indistinguishable by default, but it will label either as "Queen", or "King".

How much XP you have 'given' to the baby will alter his/her stat once they are fully grown. They will remain their initial level despite this, but can be further imprinted for additional stat boost.

Notes/Trivia

  • Reaper shares the same folder as that of Nameless.
  • Reaper does not possess gender unlike most other creatures, but instead will show as a genderless Reaper Queen (for female Reaper) and genderless Reaper King (for male Reaper).
    • This is in contrast to the Iceworm Male Iceworm Male and Iceworm Queen Iceworm Queen, both of which are also marked as 'genderless' despite the name. Unlike the Reaper however, they are not tamable by any means.
