As for knocking them out with tranquilizer, I have tried to use a melee damage 530% scorp with full 10 second intervals on a level 18 Gigantopithecus. Tranquilizing them is useless in the taming sector. For kicks after Peplegend tried to knock one out with a scorpion. i just used a 100% melee damage crossbow on a level 14. Just tamed one (lvl 68, Aug 20, 2015 about 3am Eastern), feeding timer was 15 seconds, I always fed it from behind, while it was walking to help get back out of it's box quicker. It took about 140 or so mejo berries. <small><span class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.136.137.57 (talk • contribs) at 9:53, 20 August, 2015 (UTC). Youtube Video [Vote]

Good to add new video to this page? YouTube BriannaMCR (talk) 18:50, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Ok by me --SharpShot gif (talk) 18:51, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Nice video, but game version is missing from the video description, although I guess it's because the video wasn't made specifically for the wiki. So a +1 from me. -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 14:23, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

Taming Times

Method tested and proved effective on a lvl 116 Gigantopithecus (Julien, lvl 74)
- 4XX Mejoberry without any kibbles.
- 6h - 8h depending on your assiduity and a bit of random.
- 1 minute between each patern of feeding.
- The taming bar go back very very slightly, nearly stagnate, in case of aggro - reset.
Be quick and careful the aggro is quiet tricky.

I did a small test concerning the influence of aggro on taming time. Of course this is not very accurate, but here is what I did:
On a level 84 used invisibility to prevent it from aggroing. Time between possibility of kibble feeding: 3:19 minutes. I then disabled the cheat, same time for the 80(?) food depletion. Then I aggroed it intentionally without hitting back (no hostiles in the vicinity), de-aggroed it on a tree to see if this aggro phase would change anything. Feedable regardless after 3:19 minutes. van_dell (talk) 18:53, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
I had similar results to this when I was taming mine with berries. I had a stopwatch going so I knew when it was time to go feed him again, and even when I accidentally aggro-ed him, he was still hungry again at the expected times. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 00:12, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

Currently taming a level 16. Using only mejoberries, feeding time is 1 minute 20 seconds. Llewyne (talk) 07:48, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

A level 56 Gigantopithecus took 4 hours to tame using only Mejoberries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mourlie (talkcontribs) at 22:56, September 3, 2015(UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Are spawn locations a good fit for the wiki?

I'm not sure I like the idea of having spawn locations using coordinates on the page; it seems like something that could easily become outdated. Also, if people think they can just go to these locations and there will be a Gigantopithecus there, what happens when there isn't? Will they come here to complain? I don't know. Perhaps it would be better to describe spawn locations in broader strokes... Thoughts on this? -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 10:10, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

Aren't there names for different areas on the island? If there are we could put them all on the wiki and add a Navbox to navigate them. Then we can say that X dinosaur is commonly found at Y area. There is already a page for Far's Peak.-- Minemodoverlord (talk) 14:30, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
I was going to leave them there for a little while since the creature is new and fairly hard to find, and this will give people some idea of where to look. But no, they are definitely not a permanent addition. I want to do a little more scouting around the island to get a little more info on where the apes can spawn (do they spawn on/near mountains, rivers, and beaches without forests?). So it's mainly just placeholder information until we get better info to replace it. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 18:30, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
The first one I tamed was walking on a beach (really close to that big island in the middle of the map, was walking across the river on the eastern side), foresty area was a good bit back, second one I saw was right outside our base gates really far north in deep forest. Looks to me like they're "rare" but spawning everywhere. --Gondfails (talk) 04:50, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
That's probably due to something else I've noticed: they can wander very far from where they spawn. Currently they seem to spawn in forests and wander away from it. I want to go explore some mountains in my world that are rarely visited, as well as the Carnivore and Herbivore islands to see if I happen to find any. Maybe I'll even use the destroyallenemies command and watch for respawns. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 05:25, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Quantity of Kibbles is wrong

I have tamed one lvl 108 and 21 kibbles have not been enought, so it is not enought for a lvl 120. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.43.43.42 (talkcontribs) at 11:44, 24 October 2015‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
