The Tek Shield is the final unlock able shield and part of the Tek Tier item set and the one with the most durable out of the others.
The Tekgram is unlocked by defeating the Manticore in the Ragnarok Boss Fight or in the Manticore Arena on Alpha difficulty.
The large asking price of 70 Element may deter players from ever crafting this shield especially if they never used any other shield to a great extent. If you are on a map with easy access to Element like Genesis: Part 2, earning the Element to craft one will be much easier. On the contrary if someone is on a map like The Island where Element can only be earned from Boss Fights it might not be worth the 70 Element to craft. If you still don´t want to fork over 70 Element, you can try your luck with Tier 3 Loot Crates on Genesis :Part 1 and Genesis:Part 2 for a chance of receiving a high quality shield.
It is more cost effective to focus on other Tek items first like Tek Generators, Tek Rifles, Tek Pistols, Tek Armor, and Tek Teleporters as they have more uses or cost much less Element to craft.
Usage[]
Much like every other shield, Tek Shield are used to block frontal damage.
If powered by Element, the shield reflects projectiles lobbed back at the attacker or dino. In PVP this can be useful at deterring players from shooting you or killing anyone who is unaware of the shield´s ability to redirect bullets and creature projectiles. The investment of 70 Element makes the Tek Shield a highly valued item that if lost can mean a great find for someone else.
Overall the Tek Shield can be looked at as a convenience for some or more of a novelty to others. It's best to experiment and see if the Tek Shield is something you would want to carry with you if you can afford to craft it.
