Temperament in ARK: Survival Evolved refers to how likely a creature is to be hostile.

The Rare Flower and Pheromone Dart can make Non-Aggressive Dinos become Aggressive

Harmless[edit | edit source]

Cowardly[edit | edit source]

Cowardly creatures will never fight back, even tamed ones and will attempt to run when attacked.

Docile[edit | edit source]

Docile creatures will attack if provoked, otherwise they may ignore the player.

Elusive[edit | edit source]

Elusive Creatures are extremely rare and are prone to fleeing, aren't dangerous at all, The DodoRex can also be considered as elusive During Turkey trail

Evasive[edit | edit source]

Evasive creatures will attempt to avoid danger, and try to flee when attacked. Except for Sabertooth Salmon who will attack the player if provoked by them.

Fearful[edit | edit source]

Fearful creatures will never fight back, and when a Human enters the area, they will attempt to flee.

Languorous[edit | edit source]

Exclusive to Beelzebufos, they act similar to docile creatures, though behave in a much more relaxed, serene manner whenever wandering.

Loyal[edit | edit source]

In the wild, Loyal creatures may behave like Skittish or Defensive creatures, but once tamed, they become close, valuable companions.

Naive[edit | edit source]

Currently Exclusive to Diplodocus. Naive creatures will attempt to make friendship and play with the creature attacking them.

Oblivious[edit | edit source]

Exclusive to Dodo. They will ignore any sign of danger unless attacked, in which they will flee and not fight back. Pretty similar to Skittish creatures.

Passive[edit | edit source]

Passive creatures do not fight back, they don't flee when you approach them and will start to flee once attacked

Skittish[edit | edit source]

Skittish creatures will either flee, panic, or do nothing when attacked. They do not attack back. An exception is the Ichthyornis. They are fairly aggressive and will steal items. Another exception is the Maewing. It will sometimes attack is attacked but it will mostly just flee.

Stupid[edit | edit source]

The only creature with the temperament "Stupid" is the Ovis. They'll try to flee if attacked, but because of their stupidity, they'll run into the attacking creature.

Semi-Harmless[edit | edit source]

Curious[edit | edit source]

Curious creatures are friendly. They will approach the player, but not attack them. In the case of Compy, however, once two or more approach the player, they will become hostile and attack, the Astrodelphis will become skittish when petted.

Defensive[edit | edit source]

Defensive creatures will not attack you, but if you attack them they will defend themselves. In the case of Leedsichthys, they will attack any raft in the open water. Also in case of Morellatops, one is passive but if there are 2 or more around, they will fight back.

Flippant[edit | edit source]

Flippant creatures will attack in a frivolous manner when provoked.

Friendly[edit | edit source]

Friendly creatures will act in a similar manner to Docile creatures, however, if provoked, they may either fight or flee depending on the creature.

Neutral[edit | edit source]

Neutral creatures attack when provoked. They will forget you after a long time. In the case of Megatherium, once it kills an insect, they will become aggressive. Also, in the case of Vultures, they will become aggressive if you are near a corpse.

Reactive[edit | edit source]

Reactive creatures will watch what you do, but if you do something they don’t like, they might fight back or flee. Coelacanth and the Procoptodon Will never fight back.

Dangerous[edit | edit source]

Aggressive[edit | edit source]

Aggressive creatures will attack you on sight, Except for Nameless they will only attack Humans and Tamed creatures, The Argentavis Can be considered as Aggressive In some cases, in case of the Pegomastax they start to flee after stealing an item.

Nocturnally Aggressive[edit | edit source]

Some of these creatures usually sleep during daytime hours, posing little to no threat (unless woken up by touching/approaching it closely.) During the day, it is considerably weak and slow, whereas at night they are augmented and dangerous predators, sporting ominous, glowing eyes.

Opportunistic[edit | edit source]

Opportunistic creatures prey on weak creatures.

Patient[edit | edit source]

Patient creatures wait for the right time to jump at the player.

Short-Tempered[edit | edit source]

Creatures that are short-tempered will attack the player after a few seconds.

Territorial[edit | edit source]

Territorial creatures stay nearby a certain location and will attack if you enter their area,The Rock Drake And The Megalania are aggressive as it was said in their dossier, but they're still territorial in-game. The Seeker is also territorial.

Angry[edit | edit source]

Attacks anything and everything with no mercy. The Yutyrannus aren't Angry as it was said in the dossier, but ingame they behave very similarly to the Giganotosaurus.

Extremely Territorial[edit | edit source]

Extremely Territorial creatures stay nearby a certain location and will Aggressively attack if you enter their area. Their territory in question is much bigger than regular territorial creatures.

Highly Aggressive[edit | edit source]

Exclusive to all Corrupted Creatures, Enraged Creatures, Malfunctioned Tek Creatures and Titans, regardless of their previous temperament, they ravage everything that stands in their path. This includes any structures that are near them.
