Taming Tables[]

Looks like we had the same idea. XD I got the files themselves and you changed the names on the creatures page. Also how about making it instead yield 20/40/60/80/100/120? With 6 boxes you could change the alignment with the same setup as the main page on different size windows.
-- Minemodoverlord (talk) 23:21, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

I thought of a better number system. 1/25/50/75/100/120
-- Minemodoverlord (talk) 00:16, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
yep, the iconnames seemed very inconsistently, good job there. It looks better with lvl 1, I changed it. I still struggle with the defaultname as PAGENAME, do you got an idea how to do this? Cadaeib (talk) 00:28, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
No clue, I have never done programming before. XD Why do you think I was having such a hard time putting in another creature?
-- Minemodoverlord (talk) 00:31, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Now that I look at it, it would probably go in the creatures list with something like "If unspecified use PAGENAME and re-enter"
-- Minemodoverlord (talk) 00:45, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Good work on the map template! I'll learn how to use that soonish. I'll find someone to get the data from the game files for the Doedicurus, as well as the icons for it, Gigantopithecus, and Mesopithecus. Could you also add a 3 wide wrapping and 1 wide wrapping option to the taming table for people who have a lot of screen space and mobile users?

longneck rifle Trank Dark damage[]

hello: you reverted my edit at Ammunition and at the revert description you wrote that "this is for the bullet for sure, the dart has less", but the very same wiki state the oposite, the longneck rifle does 196 damage per shot, and the Tranquilizer Dart page states that does 100% damage longneck rifle.

so there is 2 options

 1. im right and the trank dart does 196 damage, or..
 2. you are right and the dart page on the wiki is wrong when it reads that the dart does 100% the damage of the longneck rifle

BTW: thank you for helping on the arkwiki --HolaKC (talk) 04:40, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

The Longneck Rifle does do 196 damage, but with the tranquilizer dart equipped as ammo, it does less damage. It works the same way as the Bow/Crossbow - Stone arrows do more damage, tranq arrows do less damage but add torpor.
The Tranquilizer dart says "with a 100% damage Longneck Rifle", meaning a standard longneck rather than one gathered from a supply crate that would have over 100% damage, not that it does 100% of the longneck's damage.

Ark Region Map[]

Hiya! Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out a way to properly message you using Gamepedia. Is there any way at all I could get a copy of the .psd or .xcf used to create ? It would really be handy for a map mod I'm working on for ARK. I would credit you, of course.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhothran (talkcontribs) at 10:41, 26 November 2015‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Yes, I send you an email.--Cadaeib (talk) 12:09, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi! I come to see you because I make the wiki in french translation and I use your code to the rarity creature map (CreatureMap) but I have a problem with coloring areas on my map they remain red if you can help me thank you ^^— Preceding unsigned comment added by Vainvald (talkcontribs) at 05:01, 27 May 2016‎ (UTC). Cave Coordinates[]

I saw you undid my edit on the caves page. Well, I have some things to say. First, the coordinates that I replaced do not match the coordinates below the picture of the island with the dot marking the location. Seeing this discrepancy, I physically went on the game and checked both locations using a GPS. I found that the coordinates underneath the picture of the island that marks that cave to be correct, and the coordinates I changed to be false, thus I changed them to match the correct coords. Also, no other cave section has the coords next to the name of the artifact, so either the rest of the page should be changed to match, or that part of the page with the coordinates next to the name of the artifact should be edited to match the rest of the page for neatness. Also, I can recheck those coordinates, but I doubt they will have changed. I literally physically went across the island on a ptera to confirm those coordinates, and would appreciate if you would grab a GPS in-game to double check that, so we can be in agreement. Unless you decide its best to remove the coordinates from next to the artifact name to match the rest of the page, I'll leave that up to you. If you do not fix that page within a reasonable timeframe, I will edit it. I merely do not want to start a petty editing war with anyone. Good day, Masterpwn97 (talk) 05:01, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your work, it's appreciated. The issue here is just a small misunderstanding, I admit it could be stated clearer on the page. The coordinates near the artifact-name are the coordinates for the artifact itself, not the ones for the cave-entrance. Some caves are rather big so a GPS and the coordinates of the artifact can come in handy. As you stated the Artifact of the Clever is the only one with coordinates so far. I don't know who added it, I only noticed this when I checked your edit. It seems like a good addition to that page. I will add the other coordinates and add a note that the coordinates are for the artifacts itself. --Cadaeib (talk) 10:58, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I understand. It does seem like a good idea to add in the coordinates of the artifacts themselves, especially for large complex caves like the lower south cave. Perhaps it could be stated a little more clearly on the page as well. I can discover and add more coordinates to the page soon. Masterpwn97 (talk) 01:36, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Update homepage[]

Hi Cadaeib, can you undo this revision, I have updated the template to account for this change. Thanks! --GRYPHONtc 22:54, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Console Commands on Xbox[]

Can you add something to the homepage where it states that all pc console commands can be inputted on the xbox. Change it to (except for those not yet on xbox). KaotikXxXRckstr (talk) 15:40, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

Yes, I'll add a note if not yet done.--Cadaeib (talk) 11:16, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Console Commands[]

Hi, if you change the "Console Commands"-page to make it viewable on small screens then do it right please! Like it is now it's broken for normal screens ... you cant see the whole right side of the table. Every time you want to see the explanation for a single command on the right side you have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the table only to scroll right with your scrollbar and then have to scroll all the way up to the subject you wanted to read. Please change it or change it back if you dont know how (I'm not that experienced with editing to do it by myself).--Realtarquinn (talk) 09:41, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

"if there are only occurences on the border, it's not "very common" in the whole area"[]

Taking this argument into account you should edit the habitat map of Castoroides (and maybe some others). With the exception of the Hidden Lake (which is a very small area) they don't live in whole areas, but only at certain spots and don't wander around very far.

Argentavises as well as sabertooths don't just cross borders in the southwest of Whitesky Peak, there is this somewhat bigger area (with a single big rock in the middle) in the north of the Western Coast where a lot of predators battle with each other and herbivores. This area is clearly apart from the Whitesky Peak region. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs) at 14:08, 17 April 2016‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

The western coast is special in that it is very long. If it is marked as "very common" one might expect Argentavis even in the south. If there are only many in the northern part, it's difficult to show this precise. With the whitesky area as very common area for them, it's clear that some also wander to the neighbouring areas, too. I think, "uncommon" is a good compromise here.
For the castoroides I have not enough personal experience to edit the map.
Maybe the regions are not precise enough to mark all the occurences exactly. If you have knowledge about the spawning/wandering and can create better regions, it'll be a welcomed addition.--Cadaeib (talk) 14:41, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
The spots where you can find Castoroides are identical to the spots where you can find their dams.

Ingame help[]

Hello, I contact you following the numerous claim that me my tribe and other server player ps4pve171 had made about a tribe that performs purely anti-spy on a server pve. I explain its profits (Destroyers SQUAD) to be on a server chip so not to be able to kill the dinausore adverse, to block and to prevent the constructions and to block all our accesses. Sorry but I'm getting really nervous against you but against this tribe that keeps me from playing me and my tribe. I consider paying a subscription, having to buy your game and so be able to play freely without being put sticks in the wheels. Thank you for doing something as quickly as possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs) at 11:33 (UTC), 25 December 2016. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Hello there, we are sorry to hear of your troubles. Unfortunately, since none of the editors here are developers, we can neither help with issues directly related to the game nor influence any facet of its development any more than you can. Instead, you should try posting on the Official Forums, the Steam forums, or use the support-page for help in-game or suggestions related to future development. Regardless, we hope you succeed in your endeavors. --Cadaeib (talk) 11:27, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi, i have idea to do a simple calculator that displays numer of required, club hits, slingshot, electric prod hits, tranq bow/crsbow and both darts, i can do something like that in Lua, user will be able to choose the usear dmg (percentage). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yalasari (talkcontribs) at 20:49, 1 January 2017‎ (UTC). Hi, that's probably best done in javascript, as there are so many combinations (player-damage and level of the creature). I'm not sure how often that would be used, though. Most people use ranged weapons for knocking out creatures, and there the melee damage doesn't change the inflicted torpor. If you want to give it a try, you can look at Widget:Cookingcalc for ideas on how to do it. Only admins can add javascript, so you can create that for example on a userpage and I'll add it, if it works.--Cadaeib (talk) 21:23, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

Hey Cadaeib, i was interested in obtaining a high-resolution version of the 3 ark-maps (example: /The Island Topographic Map.jpg ). I would be very gratefull if you could send these maps to me. I would also be happy if u were to explain how you went about getting these maps. --Redsoldier3000 (talk) 14:36, 9 Febuari 2017 (UTC)

Hi Redsoldier, I've these finished maps only in a size of 1024 × 1024px, with the raw-data they could be with a resolution of around 5k × 5k px, but the processing slows down significantly, so I only finished them in 1024 × 1024 px. The raw-data (hight/bump-map, color-layer-masks) can be found in the devkit in the file Game/Maps/TheIslandSubMaps/LandscapeSublevel.umap in the landscape-editor -> Target Layers. There you can right-click the different layers and export them for further processing. The icebergs are not part of the layers, these have to be added manually. If 1024 is enough for you, you can just take the ones from the wiki here, for higher resolutions you can use the devkit-resources and play around with the coloring of the masks.--Cadaeib (talk) 15:59, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Ambox changes[]

I'm not sure i quite understand the logic you used for the changes to the ambox template. Why call {{#if:{} twice? As for using "blank.png", that also seems odd to me. Why not simply not display an image? Want some help making that a bit more elegant ? — Game widow (talk) 18:45, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Picture Deletion[]

Thanks, I couldn't find the option to delete it. ;)

Sleeping Animations[]

You you should add sleeping animations for all Dino’s in stead of just the megelasaourus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs) at 00:04, 21 January 2018‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Hi, I'm not a developer of the game and this wiki is not monitored by the devs of the game. You can use the official forums for suggestions, the probability they will read it there is better there.--Cadaeib (talk) 21:03, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

CreatureStats TamingBonus[]

Hey, not sure how best to get in touch with someone about this ... saw you had recent edits to Template:CreatureStats so I figured I'd try here. I'm trying to query the TamingBonus properties (e.g. DamageTamingBonusAdd) using SemanticSearch, but it doesn't appear they're currently being set for any creature. I'm kind of new to the whole Semantic Wiki thing, but I dug around and it looks like the values are #set for each Creature inside of Template:CreatureStats. Is there any reason these properties aren't currently being set? If not, would you be so kind as to add them please? The page says it's protected, so I can't possibly do it.

I think it just needs something like this:

healthTamingBonusAdd = {}
healthTamingBonusMult = {}
staminaTamingBonusAdd = {}
staminaTamingBonusMult = {}
oxygenTamingBonusAdd = {}
oxygenTamingBonusMult = {}
foodTamingBonusAdd = {}
foodTamingBonusMult = {}
weightTamingBonusAdd = {}
weightTamingBonusMult = {}
damageTamingBonusAdd = {}
damageTamingBonusMult = {}
speedTamingBonusAdd = {}
speedTamingBonusMult = {}

{{#ask: Health1::+ Pagename::+
|searchlabel=Here's the query I was trying to run.
|class=sortable wikitable smwtable

I know several of the Dinos should be showing up with stats in that list, like the Giganotosaurus.

Thanks, --XCorionx (talk) 03:06, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi, SMW causes some issues so we're currently moving all SMW-implementations to Cargo (a similar database-like extension), and these extra-values are not really used on the wiki anyway. If you need all the stat-values, you can get them for example in this file: (for a prettier view you can use e.g. For an explanation what these values mean, see --Cadaeib (talk) 16:27, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Structure hierarchies[]

Have you considered perhaps creating structure hierarchies, e.g. ["Wall"] -> ["Thatch Wall", "Stone Wall", "Metal Wall"], so that characteristics that apply to all walls don't have to be added to every variation of a wall? It's probably a lot of work to initially implement, but should make things easier in the long run. Kronzky (talk) 03:04, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

Good idea, thanks! This is kind of implemented for armor-sets (e.g. Chitin Armor), we might do a similar thing for the structures.--Cadaei (talk) 09:43, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Info box creation[]

Sorry to bother you with a probally simple question, I just started work on a wiki for Orbus VR and was wanting to implement the info boxes you worked on for this wiki. What are some good resources to learn how you created them and what links to what. A game in early access like Orbus (and like ark was back in the day) constantly changes their values to things as those items get tweaked and I'm really trying to avoid having to change hundreds of pages worth of info, if I can just use one template style. you can either talk to me here or we can meet up in a discord channel and discuss? Thank you Camberme (talk) 19:12, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, for general info about templates have a look at gphelp:Writing templates. Specifically for infoboxes, a separation of different sections is a good idea. E.g. on this wiki there is template:Infobox consumable and template:infobox structure, which both use the general template:infobox header for infos that all infoboxes have and also template:infobox item section for the properties that are item-related (stack-size, weight, spawn-command, etc.). By using a modular system like that adjusting the layout becomes much easier. Maybe you can start with an easier infobox-template on other wikis (e.g. pokemonGo infobox), the infoboxes here became rather intimidating and sometimes chaotic over the time. --Cadaei (talk) 18:36, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
